GIS Enterprise Solution Engineer
Role overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced GIS Enterprise Solution Engineer to support our talented and growing team. This role requires critical thinking, problem-solving, and expertise in GIS infrastructure. Responsibilities include implementing and maintaining GIS systems, advising clients on best practices, and leading discussions and trainings to foster GIS proficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- GIS Infrastructure Management: Implement and maintain GIS infrastructure, including ArcGIS Enterprise installation, configuration, system patching, and troubleshooting.
- Client Engagement: Advise clients on industry best practices and design appropriate architecture patterns for their environments (on-premises, cloud, hybrid).
- System Architecture: Design and implement system architectures, including multi-machine environments, high-availability deployments, and cloud integration.
- ArcGIS Server Expertise: Configure and manage ArcGIS Server roles such as Hosting, Image, and GeoEvent.
- Automation & Scripting: Utilize ArcGIS API for Python, command-line interfaces, and other tools to automate workflows and streamline processes.
- Data & Imagery Services: Advise on best practices for data services, imagery services, Portal management, and enterprise geodatabases.
- Security & System Monitoring: Perform security checks, system health checks, and implement scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Client Training: Lead technical trainings, develop standard operating procedures, and create demo materials to enhance client GIS proficiency.
Technical Skills
- Expertise with ArcGIS Enterprise installation, configuration, updates, system patching, license renewals, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with the ArcGIS ecosystem (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro workflows).
- Experience with ArcGIS Server roles (Hosting, Image, GeoEvent) and system architecture patterns (multi-machine, cloud, hybrid, high-availability).
- Automation experience using ArcGIS API for Python or command-line scripting tools is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience in GIS system administration, with a focus on ArcGIS Enterprise support.
- Strong understanding of the ArcGIS ecosystem, system architecture, and GIS best practices.
- Collaborative work ethic with the ability to handle multiple projects and clients.
- Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
